CURRICULUM

EVERY PARENT SHOULD KNOW WHAT THEIR CHILD IS BEING TAUGHT.

WE STAND FOR CURRICULUM TRANSPARENCY.

Across the nation there are concerns, and in many cases legislation, regarding curriculum in our schools. We believe in traditional curriculum that does not embed harmful ideologies, but rather builds character and gets back to the basics in education. Politics, politicians, and in many cases district administrations and boards, have complicated the education process.

At the forefront of debate is Critical Race Theory (CRT). Often times CRT is not an official curriculum, but rather an ideology that is embedded into teachings and trainings and is usually "under the cover" of terms that appear harmless on the surface. At the core of CRT is the notion that certain races are automatically and naturally oppressive of the other and that society should be structured according to race.

We believe that CRT and all other concerning, divisive, and dangerous curriculum should be proactively abolished from our schools. In addition, parents should have easy and transparent access to what is being taught an empowered with the right to refrain their child if necessary.

There is much attention being given to the "Ethnic Studies" curriculum as well as there appears to be evidence of the CRT ideology embedded in this. Review the model curriculum here. You will find statements such as:

  • “Within the field of Ethnic Studies race is defined as a neo colonial social construction central to inequitable power relations in society.”

  • In the curriculum, model lessons deal with systemic racism, Neo-colonialism, Ethnocentricity and much more. All proponents of   Critical Race Theory – CRT.

  • Sample lessons in this framework are topics such as:

    • Critique empire - Building in history and it's relationship to white supremacy - racism and power and oppression.

    • How can individuals and groups of people overcome and dismantle systematic racism.

The current Board of Education and Superintendent have refused to abolish CRT, even in light of a petition that generated over 1,600 signatures. In addition, they continue to hire consultants that have been red flagged by Parents Defending Education for potential CRT training, and who have a public record of potential CRT ideologies.

The only solution is to ensure leaders are in place that will enable transparency, empower the parent voice, and will hold values that proactively abolish any and all concerning and divisive curriculum.

The Board of Education was presented with a petition of over 1,600 signatures to proactively abolish Critical Race Theory from our schools.
