ABOUT

Save Glendora Schools (SGS) is a growing grassroots effort of Glendora families and citizens uniting together to reclaim our schools, restore traditional values, and save our city! We as Glendorans know that our schools are the heartbeat of this city, so we need to get them back to the way they were before this new leadership flipped the district upside down.

What initially began in backyard gatherings of homes across Glendora, has now become a significant local organized effort to reclaim, restore, and rebuild our once great schools. We are comprised of numerous parents, citizens, and family members of various backgrounds and ethnicities who beautifully display unity in diversity around this common cause.

ORIGINS

SGS originated over two years ago, when several Glendora citizens came together with great concern over the morale of teachers and staff, and the large amount of people leaving the district. Over time, these concerns grew and resulted in multiple meetings, emails, and requests to the district leadership. Unfortunately, the district did not listen to the concerns, nor consider them credible, and so they took no action. Yet we knew that as a grassroots effort we needed to be a strong advocate to hold the leadership accountable, to obtain transparency within our children's curriculum, uphold parent's rights, ensure our teachers and staff have the fullest support, and fight for freedom of choice, all while ensuring that the people of Glendora have a voice. After many months of attempting to help them understand our point of view, which included providing examples of what other districts did to address similar concerns and why, it became apparent that the current Board of Education had no interest in addressing any of these issues nor responding to the parents or citizens, and even displayed disdain for any opposing views.

As more parents and citizens became alarmed about the direction of Glendora schools, Save Glendora Schools (SGS) began to grow. Despite the various reasons of what draws Glendorans to get involved with SGS, the common concern that unifies this group/cause is the undeniable desire to hold our district leadership accountable for the state of our schools and future of our children. This is why we have come to identify this effort as, "Save Glendora Schools". We invite you to navigate this website, follow us on social media, join our email list and text alerts so that you can see for yourself what we are all about and how we believe that together, Glendorans of all backgrounds, races, ethnicities, and cultures are unifying together in the largest rescue mission in Glendora history-- the saving of our schools.

For your convenience, we have also identified some additional information below with responses that we hope helps you understand and makes you feel comfortable with getting involved as a Glendora citizen in the local and peaceful democratic process.

PROUDLY 100% GLENDORA

WE ARE PROUDLY A 100% LOCAL GLENDORA GRASSROOTS AND VOLUNTEER EFFORT.

We have no partnership or affiliation with any national organization nor have we received any financial sponsorship from such national efforts of any kind. This effort began as a local concern and is being resolved with local solutions by local citizens. Any such claims, rumors, or accusations stating otherwise are entirely false.

THERE ARE A LOT OF GROUPS AND ORGANIZATIONS OUT THERE... BUT THIS IS WHO WE ARE: "SAVE GLENDORA SCHOOLS".

We recognize that in a digital age there are various organized groups, efforts, and social media pages that may speak into or against similar topics, candidates, etc. and may even have similar names, taglines, etc.

In this current political environment with so many local groups now formed, it is important to note that no other page, site, organization, or communication channel of any kind represents the message, efforts, vision, mission or values of Save Glendora Schools, apart from our official website (www.saveglendoraschools.com) and social media pages linked from our website. We hope this helps Glendorans clearly find the appropriate effort they best identify with, and clear the confusion that we may be part of another group or effort. We do not have any affiliation with any other pages, websites, efforts, organizations, online groups, or communications apart from those clearly connected to our website. In addition, as per our social media policy, no comments or posts are representation of the official positions of Save Glendora Schools apart from those directly associated with our account pages.

THERE ARE A LOT OF EMOTIONS AND COMMENTS...THIS IS WHAT WE ALWAYS HAVE AND ALWAYS WILL ENCOURAGE.

As we have, and continue to address, the concerns and voice of the people of Glendora, we have always encouraged citizens to do so in a manner that is civil and respectful while being resolved in this critical mission. And while we believe in the democratic process of accountability through public comment, voting, etc. we never have, nor will we ever condone speech or actions that demeans, judges, or threatens another citizen or leader as a result of race, religion, ethnicity, sex, political affiliation, or economic status. We greatly empathize with other Glendora citizens that have been disturbed by some of the heated rhetoric and actions that unfortunately occurs in a political season and varying opinions. Any such action does not reflect the values or conduct of an overwhelming majority of citizens involved in this effort.

WHAT'S UP WITH THE YARD SIGNS?

The "Time to Fight Back" yard signs was an idea from a few Glendora citizens that wanted a way to visually show the administration that we are serious about our concerns when it became apparent that they weren't listening to the voice of the people.

A Glendora citizen paid for the initial batch, and then as more requests for the signs became apparent, we set up a way to purchase them. The signs serve as a "flag" for this effort to remind the leadership that there are advocates of transparency, parent's rights, accountability of leadership, morale of teachers and staff, freedom of choice, and ensuring that the people of Glendora have a voice.

The various statements and taglines on the signs were completely thought of by Glendora residents and have zero affiliation with any other organizations or efforts (see above re: being 100% Glendora).

To purchase a sign to show that you too are an advocate for transparency, parent's rights, accountability of leadership, morale of teachers and staff, freedom of choice, and ensuring that the people of Glendora have a voice, click below.

WE TRIED EVERY EFFORT AND NOW IT'S TIME TO VOTE.

Over the past two years of this effort, citizens have had private conversations, emails, initiated and presented petitions, provided examples, case studies, resources, all in good faith to help the Board of Education better understand the various concerns of numerous issues. It became clear that we have a Board who simply does not listen. As a result, we prepared this effort to support three candidates to be elected for Board of Education this November; Gary Clifford (District 1), Shaunna Elias (District 2), and Paul Lopez (District 3). This is why we filed as a Non-Affiliated Political Action Committee under the name "Save Glendora Schools" so that we can properly support the three candidates and their individual campaigns to reclaim, restore, and rebuild our schools.
